If the problem persists despite cleaning, your refrigerator may have its temperature set too low. It will continue to run at very low temperatures. Adjust the temperature of your fridge to determine if cycling is affected. If you have persistent problems, contact a professional fridge repairman. Water leakage, a problem that can occur in refrigerators, is quite common. This can be caused by a blocked drain, or a clogged or frozen water supply.
First, check if your food is deteriorating quickly. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, your fridge should not be below 40o F and your freezer at 0o. Temperatures that are too high or low can cause food spoilage, frost buildup, and even freezer failure.
Is there water on your kitchen floor? Are there pools of water under the fridge? Most leaky refrigerators can be fixed quickly and easily by replacing the door gasket, drain pan, or defrost drain.
Water tubs in freezer doors can freeze, which could prevent fresh water from flowing through the dispenser. You can unfreeze the tub and allow it to thaw, allowing water again to flow. Also, a damaged water inlet valve may be an issue. The water inlet valve, which opens to provide water to the dispenser's water tank, may be defective. A low water pressure could also indicate that water isn’t flowing through the dispenser’s inlet valve. This issue can be difficult to resolve, so contact a professional fridge repair technician.
